A lecture on the topic “Plant Tissue Culture” has been taken by Dr. Ajay Thakur, Scientist E & incharge Tissue culture discipline, FRI, Dehradun, February 2016 for the students of M.Sc. Botant. He is the Expert in the field of Genetics. During his lecture he discussed the important topics of tissue culture along with cytogenetic. He also discussed about the maintenance of Tissue Culture Laboratory and how to develop tissue culture laboratory.
Some of the important following topics have been discussed with students during the lecture –
- What are tissue culture
- Somaclonal Variation
- Somatic Embryogenesis
- Field of Application
The lecture helped the students to understand the different topics in a practical way and from the point of view of life. Students got the knowledge related to methods and uses of genetics and tissue culture.
- All the M.Sc. Botany students were present in the lecture.
- Some students of B.Sc. biotech were present.
- Faculties also attended the lecture. They appreciate the lecture and learned the related queries.
- Students also clear their queries.
Conclusion: The lecture was beneficial to all the students of M.Sc. and B.Sc. they clear their queries related to the topic.
