Educational Visit to Lacchiwala forest
- On dated 15th Feb. 2016 the department of botany organized an educational trip for botany students of M.Sc. and B.Sc. to Lacchiwala forest region, Dehradun.
- Tour organized due to following objectives-
- Identification and collection of Angiospermic plants
- To study the diversity of wild medicinal plants
- To study the basic herbarium technique during field visit
- Lacchiwala generally known as popular picnic spot at Haridwar- Rishikesh road.
- Lacchiwala range forest situated within Rajaji national park
- reserve forest which is about 22 km from Dehradun city.
- Whole spot encircled by Shorea robusta trees and provides a
- unique place for researchers and visitors.
- Students collected several herb plant species for their herbarium file.
- During study within lacchiwala forest different layers of vegetation identified.
HERB LAYER SPECIES:
Reinwardtia indica, Oxalis corniculata, Sonchus ciliaris, Solanum nigrum, Cyperus rotundus, Ageratum conyzoides, Eupatorium adenophorum, Woodfordia fruticosa, Parthenium hysterophorus, Lantana camara, Sida cordata , Lepidagathis incurva , Solanum toruvum, Bidens biternata, Adhatoda vasica , Centella asiatica, Chenopodium album, Aerva sanguinolenta, Ajuga bractiosa, Cladodendron viscosum , Cissampelos pareira, Amaranthus spinosus, Desmodium gangeticum , Evolvulus alsinoides, Flemingia strobilifera, Gnaphalium adnatum etc.
SHRUB LAYER VEGETATION:
Colebrookia oppositifolia, Lantana camara, Solanum viarum, Vitex negando, Calatropis procera, etc.
TREE LAYER SPECIES:
Shorea robusta, Terminalis bellerica, Toona ciliate, Albizia precera, Gaveilia robusta, Mallotus phillipinenesis etc.
