Introduction:
UREDA is near to Patel Nagar, Bypass, Dehradun.In Uttarakhand, operation and execution of various schemes based on non – conventional energy resources is handled by Uttarakhand Renewable Energy Development Agency (UREDA) through local Panchayat, volunteer organizations and district administration. Since 2008 UREDA is also spearheading the activities of Energy Conservation as a state nodal agency of BEE.Uttarakhand Government considers science, technology and innovation to be excellent vehicles for developing the national knowledge economy and towards that end has invested heavily in them. As part of this policy UREDA has been encouraged to take a leading role in the development of the renewable energy sector in line with the guidance of Ministry of New and Renewable Energy and the conductive platform for the promotion of energy conservation.
Objective of the tour:
The tour was organized to know students about renewable energy resources
Highlights of the tour:
In UREDA, students came to know about small hydro programme in Uttarakhand, and so far 44 MHPs of composite capacity 4.29 MW have been commissioned and more than 300 Villages & Hamlets have been electrified through these projects.For construction of MHPs, tripartite Agreements have been signed between UREDA, Alternate Hydro Energy Center (AHEC), IIT, Roorkee and Concern User Energy Committee (UEC). As per tripartite Agreement AHEC, IIT, Roorkee is providing technical specialized services for construction of MHPs, preparation of DPR etc. and UREDA is providing its services for monitoring, funding and guidance to UECs.
MHPs are being constructed with the financial support from Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), Govt. of India. The financial support from MNRE is available as per the relevant guidelines of MNRE.
Students know about workingof:
- Solar Lantern, Solar Street Light, Solar Home Light, Solar Charkha and Solar Power plant.
- Solar Thermal Programme– Solar Water Heater, Dish Type Solar Cooker, Solar Steam Cooking, Parabolic Concentrator.
- Bio-energy Programme:Family Size Biogas Plant, Institutional Projects, Industrial Projects, Pine Needle Based Project.
Conclusion:
The educational tour was fruitful for the students, and has provided many information on renewable energy resources and on its working.
